Welcome to New Haiyeng Cafe, a beloved establishment nestled in Lutong, Miri, Sarawak. With over a decade’s experience, this charming café has established itself as a go-to destination for authentic Sarawakian flavors, especially known for its mouthwatering Laksa. The café is helmed by two warm-hearted elders from Kuching, whose passion for food delights locals and visitors alike.
Food enthusiasts rave about the Laksa here, with one patron, Zee Ang Sim, likening its taste to the renowned Kuching Laksa, a testament to the café’s commitment to authenticity. Customers appreciate not just the rich, flavorful broth but also the value offered, with bowls priced affordably between RM 4-5. Cj Bong, another satisfied diner, wholeheartedly recommends the 吴妈 laksa, emphasizing its deliciousness combined with great pricing.
Beyond the laksa, you can find equally delightful dishes such as the famous Siumai, which adds to the café’s diverse culinary appeal. Nicole Franco Majakin shares that New Haiyeng has been a family favorite since the early 2000s, proving its enduring charm and delectable offerings.
A standout among the offerings is the Mee Kolok, highlighted by one family man who suggests that to truly understand its flavor, one must visit the café. Pairing dishes with their signature kopi "0" peng transforms a simple meal into a memorable dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for family gatherings or casual meet-ups with friends.
In summary, New Haiyeng Cafe is not just a restaurant; it’s a culinary landmark in Miri that embodies the spirit of community and the rich flavors of Sarawakian cuisine. If you find yourself craving Laksa or simply looking to indulge in authentic dishes that evoke a sense of nostalgia, this café should be at the top of your list. Experience the legacy of flavors that have been serving smiles for years; you won’t be disappointed!

The place-to-go for Laksa cravings in Senadin (with the next closest one at Paragon). Personally feels Paragon’s is better, but this is pretty decent as well. Taste is close to Kuching laksa. It is said that the owners (the 2 lovely elders) are actually from Kuching, and has been operating the stall for at least 10 years now. The Laksa broth is good, you can mix it with their toasts there, or with other noodles (if there’s still any broth left after finishing the laksa ).
